Color Blocking and Touch Ups
Every now and then I like to take extreme close up pictures of my miniatures to look at what needs attention.
I also like to block in color to get a general feel of what the finished product is going to look like as well as to see more progress faster :).
More NMM
This entrie miniature's metallic areas are being painted in a Non Metallic Metal style.
The Wrist guard and the thigh plates are what are being worked on in this picture.
Neither of them are finished in this photo, however you can get the general idea as to how the concept works.
Base Work
This base is a simple little piece of cut wood that I picked up from a Michael's store.
The Base was sanded and covered in an oil based wood stain.
After that finished drying I mixed up a small batch of plaster with a high ratio of plaster to water since I wanted to be able to mold the base.
Putting Everything Together
Anxious man that I am I had to see how Sumothay would stand on his newly made base so I driled some holes into his feet and into the base.
(I do not advise drilling holes after painting the miniature... I should have drilled into his feet and wrists earlier.)
I've skipped some steps here. And still haev a few to go... I will be sure to come back to finish the step by step.
My final advise when it comes to painting miniatures is to be patient.
Sumothay here I've been working on for a few months now.
Not that I've been working on him constantly, however there is definitely a lot of time dedicated into the painting of this miniature.
Lelith Hesperax on the other hand was painted in 10 hours.
So it's definitely not impossible to get a miniature to a high standard in a "short" period of time.
